Each year, the Computer Science Department hosts the Family History Technology Conference, a venue designed to bring computer scientists and genealogists together to discuss emergent technology aimed at aiding the family history. This year’s conference brought together experts in each field from around the world—participants arrived in Provo from as far away as Sweden and the United Kingdom. Don't miss the Computer Science Department's annual social for alumni, graduate students, faculty, and their families.  This year's event will be Thursday, July 10, with a golf tournament during the day and a barbecue at Rock Canyon Park, which will begin at 5:30 pm.   Games and Grub will be the social event for the entire family; homecoming later this year will be a special event just for adults.

Jamie Palmer graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science in December 2006.  While at BYU, she also earned a second major in Chemistry and a minor in Physics.  And if a demanding academic schedule wasn’t enough, Jamie took the time to participate in a summer internship with ExxonMobil in Houston, Texas.  Her hard work and dedication paid off, however.  In December, she accepted a full-time placement position with ExxonMobil in Houston, where she is combining her love of chemistry and computer science and continuing to excel. On Tuesday, March 6, Dr. William Barrett shared "precious precepts of truth" from the Book of Mormon at BYU's weekly campus devotional.  Dr. Barrett and his wife were recently called to preside over the Wisconsin, Milwaukee Mission beginning in July 2007.
